Lando Norris Leads Piastri in Brazilian Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at all of the past five race weekends.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, topped the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren throughout the hour before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team ran a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the conclusion of the session, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion ended the session in P19, just behind teammate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto ahead of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
